Our skilled craftsmen can help you transform your kitchen by painting your outdated kitchen cabinets.

This project is the one update our Clients tell us that completely changes the feeling of their homes.

Painting your kitchen cabinets costs about 75% LESS than installing new ones.

Whether you want a facelift or are selling a home with an outdated kitchen, painting your cabinets is an inexpensive way to refresh your kitchen.

Choose any color, and be done in about five days:

When you paint your cabinets, you can choose any color of paint. This allows you to customize your kitchen’s look and make it your own. And best of all repainting your kitchen cabinets is done in about five days.

 Our Kitchen Cabinet Painting Process

Cabinets can be painted in place or removed and sprayed in our warehouse. The time it takes to refinish cabinets will depend on how many you have. Typically, it takes anywhere between a couple of days to one week for the paint to cure.

When refinishing is complete, we’ll replace your hardware with either your old handles or the new ones you choose.

If you’re choosing new pulls or handles, we recommend using one with the same “footprint” as your old hardware – this way, we can use the same screw holes for the new hardware.

This means if your previous pulls had screw holes that were 3 1/4″ apart, your new pulls ideally will have the same distance between screws.  This way, we are not puttying the old holes and drilling new ones (puttying old holes could lead to the putty “sinking in” in future as it expands and contracts, making the cabinet look dimpled.)

How much will it cost to paint my kitchen cabinets?

An average kitchen in the Boston area will cost $3,500 – $6,500 to have the kitchen cabinets repainted.

Here’s our pricing guide for kitchen cabinets so you can estimate the cost of your exact kitchen.  If you are interested in a firm quote, we can come to your home, or if you email [email protected] photos, we can quote the project using your photos.  Just be sure to take a photo of all surfaces that will need painting so we understand the scope of the project completely.

Frequently Asked Questions About Kitchen Cabinet Painting Projects

Is kitchen cabinet paint different from “regular” wall and trim paint?

Yes, we use a special primer and paint that are much more durable than regular wall paint because your kitchen cabinets will be opened and closed often. See our DIY instructions for the exact paint brands and formulas we use and recommend if you’re doing this project yourself.

How much will it cost to paint my kitchen cabinets with CertaPro Painters?

While every kitchen is different, the average kitchen cabinet repaint project costs just $4,000-$7,000. This price is significantly less than refacing or installing new kitchen cabinets. If you’d like an exact quote, email [email protected] to set up a time for us to meet and give you a firm price, or even send pictures of all the cabinets you’d like painted, and we’ll send you a quote using photos.

Will painting my kitchen cabinets add value to my home?

While painting your cabinets may not increase the value of your home as much as a complete kitchen remodel, it can still add some value. A fresh, modern look can make your kitchen more appealing to potential buyers if you decide to sell your home.

Note:  If you are in a “seller’s market” town where there are bidding wars, you should only paint any part of your home, including cabinets, if you will recoup the money (and then some) with a higher selling price

What colors are popular for kitchen cabinets?

On the South Shore in 2023, our most popular kitchen cabinet project is painting wooden oak or cherry cabinets white or off-white. White cabinets seem to give our customers the most flexibility and provide a timeless look.

In 2023, we’ve also used varying shades of warm gray and muted colors in kitchen cabinets.  Muted shades of blue and green look fabulous and lend a “designer” look to kitchen cabinets.  Our color consultant Kate is free to work with and can help you achieve your “kitchen cabinet vision.”

Should I paint the inside of my kitchen cabinets?

We can paint the inside of your cabinets and drawers, but this will add to the cost. The insides of your cabinet doors are generally included in our quotes.

To save money, most of our customers tend to leave the inside of the solid-faced cabinets, including shelving and the inside of their drawers unpainted since none of these elements will show unless the door or drawer is opened.

Should I buy new cabinet door handles and hardware?

Choosing new hardware with the same “footprint” as the old hardware is best. This means if your old hardware fits in 2 holes 4 inches apart, the new hardware should fit in the old holes. While we can putty up the holes to accommodate hardware that doesn’t neatly fit into the old holes, the puttied-up holes will end up showing indentations in the doors as the paint cures and the putty dries.
