Powerwashing is the first step to a great exterior paint job.

Power washing is an important first step in preparing your exterior for painting. Washing ensures that it is the cleanest surface possible on which to apply the paint.

CertaPro Painters uses a 5-step prep and painting process, and the first step is power washing.

Power washing removes mold and mildew:

Most of the time, we add a mold-killing detergent to the water we use to power wash your exterior. This ensures we can inhibit the growth of mold and mildew from your exterior.

If you are having trouble with mold and mildew growth on one or all sides of your exterior, it’s important to let sunlight reach the structure. We recommend trimming trees to reduce the amount of shade on your exterior, otherwise mold and mildew may grow back.

Powerwashing shingles and decks:

Many Boston-area and South Shore homes and buildings have at least one side of cedar shingles, and power washing cedar shingles before sealing or staining them is imperative. The same thing is true for decks and porches – most times it is critical to power wash a deck floor before staining it.

If you have any questions about power washing, even if you’re doing the power washing yourself, just email [email protected]. We’re happy to help.
